Our Ultra-Lite Carbon Fibre Boot-Lid Panel is manufactured using Carbon Mods’ vacuum pressed foam core technology creating a boot-lid panel that is not only stiff but also very light weight and easy to cut.
Supplied as an oversize ‘blank’, the panel can be easily trimmed to fit the boot box of most Lotus 7 inspired kit-cars. The panel can be trimmed to accommodate MSA/RAC roll-bars and even split and hinged to create access to the boot box should it be required.
The single skin of genuine 2/2 twill carbon fibre has a high gloss surface finish thanks to a UV stable gel-coat which will resist fading and also mean that surface scratches, common around the boot box area, can be easily polished-out.
Installation
Trim and install the boot-lid panel any way you feel comfortable with. Having installed a few ourselves we have found the following technique to give excellent results:
Using masking tape to create a clean surface to write on, draw the rough dimensions of your boot box onto the panel in pencil, being sure to make them slightly oversize. Trim the panel to these dimensions and then align the panel with your boot box and check for fit. Being very easy to cut and shape the panel can then be ‘rubbed back’ using a sanding block until a perfect fit is achieved.
With careful measuring and trimming the panel can be cut to fit around a full roll bar with only a few mm of clearance which looks fantastic!
Dimensions
The boot-lid panel is supplied oversized for all known boot box dimensions, meaning you trim it back to suit your boot box. The dimensions of the blank are 1050mm x 400mm x 4mm.
