Product Description

In response to continued demand from customers about this 'in development' airbox, those requiring the box only (no baseplate, no inlet mouth insert) we have now made the box available to buy in its current form.

The airbox can be used either as a conventional airbox; mounted onto throttle bodies carbs via its universal base plate with an inline cone type filter fitted on the inlet or in a 'ram air' configuration; with the box fitted through the bonnet with the inlet facing the direction of travel, increasing intake air pressure. In this configuration the airbox would be fitted over the air filters (like the Pipercross or ITG) which it is designed to do perfectly.

The box itself is made from 100% pre-preg carbon fibre and if required its depth can be adjusted by shallowing the sides.

At present it is not supplied with a base plate which would be required in order to sit it onto your throttle bodies or carbs.

Matt/Paul/Colin, I also run a 1340cc Hayabusa in my Westfield. I used the 'normal' Haybausa base plate (to save naming names) but have turned it round 180deg so that it clears the secondary injectors etc. This would mean that the airboxes would have to be handed for it to face the correct way... The issue, as always, is the heights of the engine & of the bonnet. I have also done back to back tests with trumpet/stack lengths on the track and found no difference in power delivery between short stacks or the varied lengths as fitted as standard (also using a meter to record air/fuel mixture - no difference in readings) so I personally wouldn't see this as an issue if I were to use short stacks). Would you be able to make a base plate to suit the 1340 Hayabusa fittid in a Megabusa? This needs to be narrow enough to clear the secondary injectors (protruding upwards from the fuel rail) and off a shift in angle sufficient to allow the airbox not to foul the bonnet. The new ram pipes are longer than on the 1300 and it would be good to have a deep airbox to give them room for unrestricted airflow. I would very much like to fit one of the boxes here, it would just take some work to make a base plate, and I'm sure the 1340 installation is becoming more common as they feed into the market so there should hopefully be further customers. If one could be made I would also be very happy for you to use the car/installation for photos etc to help offset the initial cost of development for you. I hope this will be of interest.
Carbon Mods Reply: Hi Colin, it's well worth us thinking about. We have lots of plans for lots of airbox versions for different installations. I would expect that we will do something along these lines but it will probably be with a bespoke airbox as well as baseplate. Watch this space.
